French design arrives in Cape Town with Roche Bobois

Type of Event: Special Opening
Venue: Roche Bobois’ showroom in Kloofstreet – Cape Town
About the client: Roche Bobois is a French design furniture brand founded in Paris in 1961. Today, Roche Bobois has more than 250 showrooms in nearly 50 countries. The world leader high-end furniture brand continues its international expansion.

Roche Bobois chose Cape Town to open his first showroom in South Africa and XO Events to organise this special opening that had to mix South African and French culture.

The challenge was to organise the media, professional meetings and the opening cocktail evening in the same venue on the same day!
Then, from early in the morning the teams were on site to setup the media breakfast with a sound-system, giant plasma screen and catering. At XO Events, we couldn’t imagine a French breakfast without the delicious pastries prepared by the well-reputed French Bakery “Cassis” to immerse the guests in French culture. With a “croissant” or a “pain au chocolat”, media were ready to be introduced to Roche Bobois CEO, Gilles Bonan and to meet Sacha Lakic, one of Roche Bobois’ most renowned designers. In the afternoon, the most important Capetonian interior designers and architects were invited for one-on-one interviews with Sacha Lakic around a very “frenchy café gourmand” with “petit-fours”.

In less than 2 hours, the teams broke the day setup down to transform the showroom into a cocktail venue to accommodate 150 guests.

XO Events took on the challenge and the guests were welcomed on a black carpet by hostesses from 6.00 pm with a glass of South African sparkling wine in a jazzy ambiance.

Further in the evening, the guest enjoyed the canapés from Chef Annalize Sainsbury, gratuate of the “Silwood School of Cookery”, one of the older and well-reputed cooking School in South Africa. Influenced by her experience in Ritz Escoffier courses in Paris, she created French-inspired aperitifs including goat’s cheese, lime and black pepper macaroons or delicious quiche lorraine with roast chicken and delicious crispy bacon.

The ‘wow’ factor was achieved upon the arrival of a very elegant lollipop-cake from Juliet of Creative Cake Pops. XO Events worked closely with Juliet before the event to create these unique, personalised lollipops and the result deserved the most elegant French pastries and was really appreciated by everyone.

XO Events is proud to have been associated with this event and to have created an event upholding the reputation of Roche Bobois’. It was an event that every guest will remember and will share thanks to the photo-souvenirs made in the decor, specially created for the event.
