If you are fond of Cape Town’s magnificent views, then you should definitely make a turn at the Cloud 9 Rooftop bar. The rooftop bar is located in the 52-room heritage Cloud 9 Boutique Hotel & Spa on Kloof Nek road, positioned at the foot of the Cape’s most iconic landmark, Table Mountain. On top of the hotel, one can admire the From its perch, the impressive and uninterrupted 360-degree views of the Mother City.
The bar is open to the public which means you don’t need to stay at the hotel in order to be able to enjoy the bar, it’s specials and the swimming pool. The Tamboerskloof institution claims a grand bar with an extensive offering, a flat screen TV ideal for big sport matches and delicious signature cocktails. Some of the bar’s famous cocktails include the Golden Dream, the Amarula Colada, the Basil Grande and the iconic Vanilla & Pear cocktail. In addition, the bar too serves a wide selection of the Cape’s finest reds, whites and bubbly – think La Motte, Ernie Els Wines, Klein Constantia, Graham Beck Wines and many others – offering visitors by the glass and/or bottle options. Other alcoholic options include a mix of imported beers, whisky, cognac and boozy shooters.
The place is a truly rare Cape Town gem. It’s a sight that you must experience for yourself.

HARALD’S BAR AND TERRACE PARK INN CAPE TOWN FORESHORE
Our second pick of Cape Town’s best rooftops has to include the magnificent Harald’s Bar. Situated on the sky-high 11th floor of the Park Inn Cape Town Foreshore, the Sunroof Terrace boasts an impressive 180-degree view of the Mother City in all her glory. On the one side, Table Mountain tall and prominent and on the other the harbour sprawls out into the sparkling Atlantic. Open to the public whether you’re staying at the hotel or not, you can sip a cocktail on the rooftop or order light bite off the menu. Come on Fridays: the hotel sponsors live music from 5pm to 8pm and the space gets quite vibey.

If you looking to experience in the inner city atmosphere, then Tjing Tjing is for you. Surrounded by by some of the Cape’s tallest buildings, the place boasts a creative mix of crowds of young and middle aged people and good beverages. Overall this loft-style bar above Dear Me Brasserie is contemporary, sleek and a mere trap door away from the White Room (an open space for art exhibitions). A must try and some local’s favourite chill-out spot.

THE GRAND DADDY HOTEL
The legendary Grandaddy Hotel has a lot to offer. The Sky Bar shares its space with a rooftop airstream trailer park (seven vintage Airstream trailers hauled all the way from the States, then popped onto the hotel’s roof). Watch the trailers glint at sunset and lounge back on wooden decks under the protection of a Bedouin tent. There is also the Pink Flamingo Roof Top Cinema which airs classics; think ET, Edward Scissorhands, True Romance et al.
