Kapama River Lodge, a stylish safari experience

Named after a Swazi king whose tribe inhabited the region in the 1880s – Kapama Private Game Reserve, with its portfolio of luxury game lodges, occupies a vast area between South Africa’s northern Drakensberg mountains and the Kruger National Park.

Boardering Kapama, Hoedspruit’s Eastgate Airport is ideally located to receive guests flying from Johannesburg and Cape Town on scheduled flights, or on private charters. Four luxurious safari lodges: River Lodge, Buffalo Camp, Kapama Karula and Southern Camp are part of the property with the comforts of five-star safari hospitality and facilities.

The River lodge, located along the bend of a seasonal river, is the ideal accommodation for large corporate and incentive groups, as it features 64 suites. Stylishly furnished, it ensures the very best of an African safari experience. It features royal suites, spa suites and standard suites, all allowing unlimited bush views from the windows.

Each suite is equipped with a minibar, coffee and tea-making facilities, as well as a safe, hairdryer and international plugs. The en-suite bathroom of the Royal Suite has a bath and a dual shower overlooking the surrounding bush and resident wildlife: a perfect accommodation for your VIP guests.

The variety of dining possibilities in an African Luxury style can be enjoyed in different venues of the lodge. The Siyatla Lounge is an enclosed dining area, where breakfasts and lunches are served. It has its own bar and lounge with two large fireplaces, while glass stack doors open up the lounge to the surrounding bush.

Dinners usually take place in the Rhino Boma, around a roaring fire. Here, buffet meals are served under open-sided thatch and showcase pan-African dishes prepared from fresh local ingredients and game meats, as well as international specialties accompanied with fine wines.

Special dinners in the Bush or on the riverside can also be arranged in exclusivity for the groups, if you want them to experience the truly vibrant nature of South Africa during an unforgettable evening.

Another facility for the travelers who wish to maintain the update on business and the world, is a small private conferencing room equipped with the latest audiovisual facilities for those.

The very highlight of the River lodge is the amazing Kapama Wellness Centre, which is considered one of the finest safari spas in Africa. It has six sumptuous treatment rooms surrounding a central lap pool facing the sweeping bushveld.

At Kapama, your guests will participate to two daily game drives in open 4×4 vehicles, one in the early morning and one in the afternoon, accompanied by a skilled ranger and a tracker. Guests can expect to encounter a diverse range of animal and bird species on game drives, and with a bit of luck, also the famous Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo.

For small groups, elephant back safari, bush walks, game drives or hot balloon safari flights can also be arranged.
